AI intake for Clio law firms

Updated May 2026 · SwiftAppLab · By the team behind NeverMissAI

Clio is the most-used legal practice management platform among solo and small firms — 150,000+ legal professionals worldwide. Clio handles matters, time tracking, billing, and documents. What it doesn't handle: the inbound intake call. Most Clio firms either pay Smith.ai (expensive) or run intake manually. NeverMissAI handles 24/7 intake today via Google Calendar + SMS + email summary. Native Clio matter creation is on our Q3 2026 roadmap.

Why NeverMissAI for Clio law firms

What ships today: intake captured, summarized, delivered

The AI runs your practice-area-specific intake (PI, family, estate, business, immigration, etc.). After the call: SMS to your phone with case summary + opposing party + urgency + recording link. Google Calendar event for the consultation. By morning you log into Clio, create the matter, and copy the intake notes — taking 60 seconds instead of a 30-minute discovery call.

What's on the Q3 2026 roadmap: native Clio sync

Two-way Clio API integration — write new contacts, new matters, intake notes, conflict flags, and calendar events directly to Clio. Optional read access for basic conflict pre-checks against your existing matters. Shipping summer 2026. We'll build the connector free for the first 20 Clio firms committed to a 6-month Pro or Business plan today.

Practice-area-tuned intake from day one

Personal injury, family law, immigration, estate, criminal, business formation — each has different intake scripts. We tune the AI's script per your firm's practice areas during onboarding. This is the work that matters most; the Clio sync is the last-mile convenience.

Sample call — what the AI handles

Caller: Hi, I'm trying to figure out what to do about my divorce. My wife filed yesterday.

AI: I'm sorry — that's stressful. We handle family law. What state and county?

Caller: Texas, Travis County.

AI: Got it. Have you been served, or just learned she filed?

Caller: Just learned. Her lawyer hasn't served me.

AI: Okay. We should move quickly so you don't get caught in a default. Minor children, and currently in the marital home?

Caller: Two kids, 8 and 11. Yes I'm at the house.

AI: Thanks. I'm booking your free 30-min consultation with Sarah Reeves tomorrow at 11am. She'll get my intake summary by SMS and email before the call. Do not move out of the house before that consultation — we'll talk through why.

Frequently asked questions

Is Clio integration shipping today?
No. Today the AI captures full intake, books the consultation into Google Calendar, and sends the summary + transcript by SMS and email. Native Clio two-way sync is on our Q3 2026 roadmap. First 20 committed Clio firms get the connector built free.
What does the intake summary include?
Practice area, matter type, opposing party, jurisdiction, urgency, prior representation status, conflict-check basics (named parties, employer if relevant). Plus the full recording + transcript. Enough to decide whether to take the matter before the consultation.
Can the AI run basic conflict pre-checks today?
Captures the data you need to run a check (opposing party, named parties, employer if relevant) — but doesn't automatically query Clio yet. That's the Q3 2026 native-sync feature. Today you spot-check the AI's flags against your Clio matters manually.
Will the consultation get on my Clio calendar?
Today: it lands on the firm's Google Calendar (which most Clio users have synced to their Clio Calendar via Clio's built-in Google sync). Future: direct Clio Calendar event on Q3 2026 release.
How does NeverMissAI compare to Smith.ai for Clio firms?
Smith.ai is live human + AI hybrid starting at $325/month plus per-call fees. They have native Clio integration today. We're $97-$497 flat with no per-call fees and (for now) Google-Calendar-only. Once our native Clio sync ships in Q3 2026, we're cheaper and the intake quality is comparable. If you need Clio-native today, Smith.ai is the honest pick.
